This page is dedicated to dead batteries and all the other fun digital photography introduces.
Well, it was a nice crisp morning when we arrived in Hudson, CO, when we saw a headlight. (Editor: the GP39-2)
We ran into a NB with two nice SD70ACes on the front, back to back. So, we turn around and went to north (Editor: East)of Hudson after it turns into the sun. It's a beautiful shot, perfect sun, mountains in the background, nice purple clouds in the sky. Train stretched out, coming uphill with the curve in the distance. I'm standing on the tailgate for a little elevation. There aren't any cars on I-70 and the train is halfway through the viewfinder on my point-and-shoot digital camera. I push the button halfway down to autofocus when my batteries, which I just loaded THE NIGHT BEFORE, decide they've had enough for the day. Sweet. I got ONE PICTURE out of them! With three people in the car satisfied (and one ready to punch the other three), we headed to the show.
When we were in Caboose Hobbies, my cousin, who lives in Ft. Collins, called and said a SB was on it's way on the FRS. We headed north, and when we were in Broomfield we heard the Valmont clear up its warrant. So we went to the Boulder sign and got it.
We decided to go see GWR 296 and we saw a headlight on the connector on the end of some coal empties, which had a fred on it.
We decided to check it out, and found them sitting in the first sunshine we had since we got out of the show. Then we headed home.
Hopefully Mr. Kepner can provide a picture from the spot. Please?
Certainly !
